Tuesday at 1:00 pm (EST)  on ‘Be A Healthy Caregiver’ , I am pleased to welcome Dina Ramon from iStand.

Tuesday’s  Topic: Falls Prevention – How To Minimize Risk and Reverse and Epidemic of Injury

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, One in three adults aged 65 and older falls each year. 2 Of those who fall, 20% to 30% suffer moderate to severe injuries that make it hard for them to get around or live independently, and increase their risk of early death.

Creating more stable and easy-to-use walking aids brought the issue of falls among seniors to the forefront for the company’s founder Mazy Holiday.  Mazy  recognized that falls prevention for seniors was a critical necessity, and began developing a mobile application that incorporated programs with the highest demonstrated return rate on reducing falls.

Because of the lack of nationwide and organized dissemination of falls prevention programs for seniors, digital technology has become the clear and obvious solution for a segment of the population that has limited income, and often does not or cannot leave the house regularly.

On Tuesday’s show,  we will learn about iStand while gaining some important tips on how to help prevent falls.

Through our conversation with Dina, we will all learn how to ‘Be A Healthy Caregiver!’

Families are complex entities, and it is not unusual for submerged anger or conflict to boil up in times of stress. Siblings can often find it difficult to work together to help their aging parents, especially when there is unresolved conflict between them.  It can feel impossible to think about being together to make decisions regarding the well-being of their parents. Hence the need for Elder Care Mediation!

Elder Care Mediation

Our episode on Tuesday will surround the importance of Elder Care Mediation and why having an objective third person involved in the process is beneficial to everyone. Through our conversation with Doris and Bonnie, we will all learn how to ‘Be A Healthy Caregiver!’

Caregivers: Sometimes You Just Have To Ask!

be-healthy

Tuesday on ‘Be A Healthy Caregiver’,  I had the pleasure to visit with author and Caregiving expert, Dr. Amy D’Aprix.  During our conversation, Dr. Amy recanted a story about a taxi driver who was able to help her out with a simple request for an envelope.  Not knowing why she even asked the taxi driver for an envelope, she in turned learned a great lesson from the taxi driver when he said to her, “when you need something in life, you need to ASK, ASK, ASK!”

David AllenAs Caregivers, we can fall into the trap thinking that “we can do it all”, yet when it is time for a break or time for  respite, sometimes we don’t know how to ask for help.  Having the ability to ask for help is one of the first ways to help  ease Caregiver stress.

The main Caregiver in a family is usually the lead when it relates to disseminating information to family, friends and neighbors. Sometimes those family, friends and neighbors are just a conversation away from being in a position to help.  Help is not always assumed, and sometimes in order to get what you want, you just have to ASK, ASK, ASK!”

I am asking  you today is to simply listen to an archived version of Tuesday’s show, because I am confident that you’ll find some soothing words of wisdom from Dr. Amy because we all want to ‘Be A Healthy Caregiver’
