Ever try to make an important decision when you are sleep deprived? You feel foggy and you find little clarity. Caregiving can be stressful all on its own without compounding it with sleep deprivation. We need between 7-9 hours of sleep a night. According to a number of studies conducted by the Mayo Clinic, people who don’t get quality sleep or enough sleep are more likely to get sick after being exposed to a virus, such as the common cold. Lack of sleep can also affect how fast you recover if you do get sick. Long-term lack of sleep also increases your risk of obesity, diabetes, and heart and blood vessel (cardiovascular) disease.
